Tyler-Longview TV Stations: Every East Texas Channel and How to Watch
The Tyler-Longview area's TV stations are ABC 7 KLTV, CBS 19 KYTX, NBC 56 KETK and FOX 51 KFXK. The CW is on 19.2 and Telemundo on 7.3. Lufkin and Nacogdoches get their own ABC station, KTRE 9, and a FOX 51 repeater on channel 30. ABC 7 broadcasts on VHF, and the market has no PBS station of its own.
East Texas TV is spread out. The four network towers stand in four different directions from Tyler, from northern Smith County to the middle of Cherokee County. The market runs nearly 90 miles from northern Smith County down to Lufkin, and all four cities in its name hold a station license. This guide lists every channel, shows where the towers are, and covers the Shreveport stations that reach the Louisiana side.

Of the four big network stations, only FOX 51 is licensed to Longview. Our Longview TV stations guide covers that city.

Four towers, four directions
From downtown Tyler, ABC 7 is 14 miles north-northeast and NBC 56 is 20 miles south, almost opposite each other. FOX 51 sits 21 miles east-southeast, and CBS 19 is 33 miles south-southeast.

Distances we computed from the stations' listed coordinates. ABC 7 transmits from northern Smith County near the Wood County line. NBC 56 is in northwestern Cherokee County near FM 855, and CBS 19 is northwest of Ponta. FOX 51 stands in northwestern Rusk County, northwest of New London.
In practice, Tyler homes that aim a directional antenna south get NBC and CBS, then have to work for ABC and FOX. Omnidirectional antennas, or two antennas joined with a combiner, are common answers. Check your exact address on the FCC's DTV reception map.
Getting ABC 7 on an antenna
KLTV broadcasts on VHF 7, so a UHF-only antenna can miss the market's longtime ratings leader. In Tyler there's a second way in. KLTV runs a low-power UHF fill-in, K21PE-D, on channel 21, and it also shows up as 7.1 after a scan.
If your TV finds two versions of channel 7, keep whichever holds steady. KLTV's tower has a history of its own. On February 3, 2006, its 1,078-foot mast in Red Springs collapsed and took the station off the air. Cable viewers kept watching through a fiber link while antenna and satellite viewers lost it until a temporary signal came back.
Lufkin and Nacogdoches
The southern half of the market has its own ABC station, KTRE 9, licensed to Lufkin. It shares programs with KLTV but runs its own weeknight news and ads from studios in Pollok. Lufkin's FOX comes from KFXL-LD on channel 30, a low-power repeater of FOX 51.
CBS 19 is licensed to Nacogdoches, though its studios are in Tyler. Its tower is about 33 miles from Nacogdoches and 44 from Lufkin, and NBC 56 is 50 to 61 miles away. Our guides to Lufkin TV stations and Nacogdoches TV channels cover the antenna setups there.
No PBS, no Univision
RabbitEars' station list for the market includes no PBS station and no Univision station. Telemundo is the one Spanish-language network on the air, on KLTV 7.3 and KTRE 9.2.
For PBS, East Texans use cable, satellite or the free PBS app. Univision comes through cable, satellite or a streaming service. Near Marshall, a good antenna may also bring in the Shreveport stations.
The long road to a local CBS
CBS had a hard time staying on the air in East Texas.
- 1954: KETX, channel 19 in Tyler, carried CBS from January and went dark that October 23. KLTV, signed on October 14, 1954, kept some CBS shows, including NFL football.
- 1969 to 1970: KAEC-TV in Nacogdoches lasted about eight months amid technical problems.
- 1984 to 1991: KLMG-TV, channel 51 in Longview, was the CBS station until it became FOX's KFXK.
- The cable years: Local cable systems carried CBS from Shreveport's KSLA or from Dallas.
- 2000s: KYTX relaunched as its own CBS 19 station, the first in-market CBS affiliate in 13 years.
NBC arrived in March 1987 with KETK, the first time East Texas had full affiliates of all three major networks.
Shreveport stations on the east side
Shreveport's towers stand about 27 miles from Marshall and 49 from Longview, close enough for an outdoor antenna in Harrison County. That puts KTBS 3 ABC, KSLA 12 CBS, KMSS 33 FOX and Texarkana's KTAL 6 NBC within reach of some East Texas homes.
From Tyler, those towers are about 83 miles away, too far to count on. Longview sits between the two markets; our Longview guide explains which stations win where.
Watching without cable
Each cable-free option handles the scattered towers differently.
- An antenna with VHF, from $25 to $60, more for a mast or a second antenna.
- Streaming. YouTube TV charges $82.99 a month; whether it includes KLTV and the others depends on your ZIP code.
- IPTVZ, $29.99 for 3 months or $74.99 for 12 months on one device.
All four tower directions stop mattering on IPTVZ. The October 16, 2026 panel catalogue lists KLTV, KYTX, KETK and KFXK by name. The Shreveport stations are there too: KTBS, KSLA, KTAL, KMSS and CW 21 KPXJ. See our guides to IPTV in East Texas and leaving Optimum in Tyler and Longview.
