Texas Sports on TV in 2026: Where Every Pro Team and Big College Program Airs
In 2026, Texas teams reach TV in very different ways. The Cowboys and Texans play on free broadcast TV, and the Mavericks are free on KFAA 29 and the MavsTV app. The Rockets and Astros need Space City Home Network, the Rangers need Rangers Sports Network, and the Spurs stream on DAZN. All three MLS teams play every match on Apple TV. College football splits between the SEC on ABC and ESPN and the Big 12 on ESPN, FOX and TNT.
No single package covers every Texas team anymore. Some teams went back to free over-the-air TV, others moved to their own apps, and a couple still sit on pay-TV sports networks. This guide maps each pro team and the major college programs to where they air and what they cost to follow. Each row links to a detailed city guide.

Compiled from our city guides, which cite each team's and network's announcements for the 2026 and 2026-27 seasons. Home-market rules apply: team networks and apps sell local games only inside each team's territory.

NFL: Cowboys and Texans
NFL games are the easiest Texas sports to watch for free. The local CBS and FOX stations carry Sunday afternoons and NBC has Sunday night. Monday night belongs to ESPN, sometimes with ABC, and Thursday to Prime Video.
In Dallas-Fort Worth that means FOX 4 and CBS 11; in Houston, CBS 11 and FOX 26. Elsewhere in Texas, each market's CBS and FOX affiliates get the regional games picked for that market. A Lubbock or Amarillo viewer may see a different afternoon game than Dallas. Fans of a team outside their market have NFL Sunday Ticket, from $240 for new YouTube TV members. Our guide to the cheapest way to watch the NFL compares every route.
NBA: Mavericks, Rockets and Spurs
Texas's three NBA teams use three different models in 2026-27.
- Mavericks: local games air free on KFAA, channel 29, with at least 15 also on WFAA 8. Nearly 70 games are free in the MavsTV app for viewers in the team's area; MavsTV+ costs $14.99 a month or $99.88 for the season.
- Rockets: Space City Home Network is the exclusive local home. The SCHN+ app costs $19.99 a month, $99.99 for 6 months or $199.99 a year in the Houston area. Fubo and DIRECTV streaming carry the network; YouTube TV doesn't.
- Spurs: local games stream on DAZN at $19.99 a month or $119.99 for the season, for viewers in the Spurs' home market. Twenty-two games also air free on a local station.

MLB: Rangers and Astros
Both Texas baseball teams still rely on team-run sports networks. The Rangers' local games are on Rangers Sports Network, which DIRECTV, Spectrum, AT&T U-verse, Astound and Fubo carry. CW33 in Dallas-Fort Worth airs select games.
The Astros share Space City Home Network with the Rockets, so one SCHN+ subscription covers both Houston teams. Postseason games air on national networks like FOX, ESPN and TBS, not on the team networks. Our Astros and Rockets guide has the SCHN+ details.
NHL and MLS: Stars, Austin FC, FC Dallas, Dynamo
The Stars put 17 games on free TV, on FOX 4 and FOX 4+, and stream every other regional game on Prime Video. National games are on ESPN, ABC and TNT.
Major League Soccer works differently. In 2026, every Austin FC, FC Dallas and Houston Dynamo match comes with an Apple TV subscription. Serious soccer fans need Apple TV whatever else they choose. Our Austin TV stations guide touches on Austin FC.
College football and basketball
Texas and Texas A&M play in the SEC, where ESPN holds the rights; most Big 12 schools in Texas split between ESPN, FOX and TNT.
| Schools | Conference | Where games air | Our guide |
|---|---|---|---|
| Texas, Texas A&M | SEC | ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, SEC Network, SEC Network+ | Longhorns on TV |
| Texas Tech, Baylor, TCU, Houston | Big 12 | ABC, ESPN networks, FOX, FS1, TNT, ESPN+ | Texas Tech on TV |
| West Texas A&M and other Lone Star Conference schools | Lone Star | FloCollege | Panhandle sports |
The SEC and Big 12 both name most networks only a week or two before each game. In 2026, six of the first eight Longhorns games with a network were on ABC. In most Texas markets, that means free on the local ABC station. Big 12 football added TNT Sports in 2025, so Texas Tech, Baylor, TCU and Houston games can land on TNT or truTV.
Why there's no single package anymore
A few years ago, most Texas teams sat on regional sports networks bundled into cable. Since then, several have left for other models. The Mavericks went to free broadcast TV, the Stars to a broadcast-plus-Prime Video mix, the Spurs to DAZN and MLS to Apple TV. The Rockets and Astros now run their own network, and so do the Rangers.
The result is that a Texas household following teams in two cities may need several subscriptions. A Rockets fan in Houston and a Rangers fan in Dallas face completely different setups. And a Spurs fan outside the Spurs' home market can't buy the local DAZN package at all.
What following your teams costs
| Setup | Covers | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Antenna | NFL Sundays, Mavericks locally, 17 Stars games, ABC and FOX college games | $25 to $60 once |
| SCHN+ | Rockets and Astros, in the Houston area | $199.99 a year |
| DAZN Spurs package | Spurs local games, in the home market | $119.99 a season |
| YouTube TV | Locals plus ESPN, FS1, TNT and SEC Network; no SCHN | $82.99 a month |
| IPTVZ, 12 months | Locals across Texas, national sports networks and team channels | $74.99 on one device |
IPTVZ's panel catalogue of October 16, 2026 lists team channels for the Mavericks, Rockets, Spurs, Stars, Rangers and Astros. It also has MLS channels for Austin FC, FC Dallas and the Houston Dynamo, and a Space City feed. ESPN, FS1, TNT, SEC Network, NFL RedZone and NFL Sunday Ticket channels are there too, along with local network stations across Texas.
