Numbers that show up twice
A few El Paso channel numbers appear twice in a scan, and a few networks appear on two numbers. Neither is a problem with your TV.
- Same network, two numbers: Laff is on 7.5 and 9.4, Grit on 7.7 and 26.2, PBS Kids on 13.3 and 22.3. Pick either.
- Same station, two signals: ABC 7 and CBS 4 also run low-power repeaters for Las Cruces, so your TV may list 7.1 or 4.1 twice. Keep the one with the stronger picture.
- FOX 14 from another station. FOX 14.1 travels on KTSM's transmitter, so it appears alongside NBC 9's channels in your TV's signal menu.
If a duplicate keeps breaking up, hide it in the TV's channel settings. Then the strong copy is the one you land on.
The two channel 4s in Las Cruces
In Las Cruces, channel 4.1 can mean CBS 4 from El Paso or NBC's KOB 4 from Albuquerque. Both broadcast low-power repeaters into the Las Cruces area.
KCWF-LD relays CBS 4 and FOX 14 from El Paso. K22NM-D relays KOB, the NBC station in Albuquerque, which also calls itself channel 4. On a TV that picks up both, you get two 4.1s, one with El Paso CBS news and one with Albuquerque NBC news. The second channel 4 is a bonus, not a mistake, and it's where KOB's subchannels like MeTV and Heroes & Icons come from.

Our Las Cruces TV stations guide covers the rest of the New Mexico side, including PBS 22 KRWG on Tortugas Mountain.
Cable, satellite and streaming numbers
The numbers on this page are for antennas; cable and satellite boxes use their own. On Spectrum or DirecTV, the same stations sit on different channel numbers, which you'll find in your provider's guide. Paying for that box mainly for the locals? Our guide to leaving Spectrum in El Paso prices the alternatives.
On IPTVZ, stations are listed by name in the guide, so you don't need a number at all. Our panel catalogue of October 16, 2026 lists ABC 7 KVIA, CBS 4 KDBC, NBC 9 KTSM, FOX 14 KFOX and Telemundo KTDO. Univision 26 KINT, UniMás 65 KTFN and PBS 13 KCOS are on the panel as well, so the VHF 13 problem disappears. It also has a Ciudad Juárez section with Las Estrellas, Canal 5 and Azteca 7. See our guide to IPTV in El Paso for setup.
How to get every channel in a scan
- Use a VHF and UHF antenna. PBS 13 KCOS broadcasts on VHF 13, the only main El Paso station that does. Our guide to VHF antenna reception in Texas explains why that matters.
- Aim at the Franklin Mountains, where almost every El Paso tower stands, about 3 to 4 miles north of downtown. The FCC's DTV reception map gives the exact direction from your address.
- Run the scan from your TV's settings menu: Channels, then Auto-program or Channel scan.
- Adjust and scan again. A small turn can add a station, and a second scan keeps the new one.
- Hide the duplicates you don't need, so the channel button skips them.
