Amarillo TV Stations: Every Panhandle Channel and How to Watch
Amarillo's TV stations are NBC 4 KAMR, ABC 7 KVII, CBS 10 KFDA and FOX 14 KCIT. Panhandle PBS is on channel 2 and the CW on 7.2. Telemundo comes from Borger on 31 and is repeated on 10.3. Every network tower stands 5 to 11 miles north of downtown, and PBS 2 and CBS 10 broadcast on VHF.
Amarillo is one of the easier cities in Texas to watch TV with an antenna. The towers sit together on the north edge of town, all in one direction, and most of them are close. The tricky part is the Panhandle itself: the towns spread far across flat country, and a 50-mile drive is short here. This guide covers every station, a bit of the market's unusual history, and what changes once you leave the city.

Three tower sites, one direction
Every tower is north of downtown Amarillo: CBS 10 at about 5 miles, NBC 4 and FOX 14 at 8, and ABC 7 and PBS 2 at 11.
- KFDA, CBS 10, broadcasts from its studio site on Broadway Drive in north Amarillo.
- KAMR, NBC 4, and KCIT, FOX 14, share a site on Dumas Drive, US 87-287, at Reclamation Plant Road.
- KVII, ABC 7, and KACV, PBS 2, stand west of US 87-287 in rural Potter County.
Distances we computed from the stations' listed coordinates. With everything to the north, one antenna aimed that way covers the market. In most of Amarillo, a modest indoor or attic antenna is enough, as long as it handles VHF. Check your address on the FCC's DTV reception map.
The VHF stations: PBS 2 and CBS 10
KFDA broadcasts on VHF 10 and KACV on VHF 9, so a UHF-only antenna can miss CBS and PBS. ABC 7 used to be the third: KVII moved from VHF 7 to UHF 20 in 2022.
If a scan finds NBC, ABC and FOX but not 2 or 10, the antenna is the likely cause. Pick one rated for VHF-High, channels 7 to 13.
Canyon, Borger, Hereford and the rest of the Panhandle
Canyon and Panhandle sit about 22 to 25 miles from the towers; Hereford, Pampa, Tulia and Dalhart are 45 miles or more.

Distances we computed from the stations' listed coordinates. The flat land helps, but distance still wins: past about 40 miles, plan on a roof antenna with VHF and a clear view toward Amarillo. Borger has Telemundo's own transmitter on 31. Eastern New Mexico gets ABC through KVIH-TV, channel 12 in Clovis, a full-time satellite of KVII.
35 years without PBS
Amarillo had all three commercial networks by 1957 but no public TV station until 1988.
- March 18, 1953: KGNC-TV, now KAMR, signs on as the first station, carrying NBC.
- April 4, 1953: KFDA joins it as the CBS station, two weeks later.
- December 21, 1957: KVII brings ABC. That made Amarillo one of the smallest US markets with full service from all three networks.
- October 24, 1982: KJTV, today's FOX 14 KCIT, signs on as the market's first commercial UHF station. Its transmitter failed on the first night.
- August 29, 1988: Amarillo College's KACV finally brings PBS.
Before KACV, PBS shows reached Amarillo one program at a time on the commercial stations. Sesame Street, for example, ran on KVII from 1970 to 1988. Viewers otherwise got PBS from Lubbock's station on cable or from a translator of a Denver station.
Telemundo, and no Univision
Telemundo Amarillo broadcasts from KEYU, licensed to Borger, on channel 31, and KFDA repeats it on 10.3. RabbitEars' market list shows no Univision station on the air.
Univision viewers in the Panhandle rely on cable, satellite or streaming. Our cable alternatives in Amarillo guide compares the options.
Watching without cable
Amarillo's towers are close, so most city homes can drop cable with nothing more than an antenna.
- An antenna with VHF, $25 to $60, aimed north.
- A live-TV streaming service, such as YouTube TV at $82.99 a month.
- IPTVZ for the cable channels too, $74.99 for 12 months on one device or $29.99 for 3 months.
All four Amarillo network stations are in the IPTVZ panel catalogue of October 16, 2026. It also carries a PBS HD feed and Univision city feeds. Lubbock's stations are there too. See our guides to IPTV in Amarillo and Panhandle sports on TV.
Out in the Panhandle, past antenna range?
If you live 50 miles from Amarillo, the IPTVZ free trial brings KVII, KFDA, KAMR and FOX 14 over your internet instead. It lasts 24 hours.
