IPTV on Roku: What Works and What Doesn’t

By

Yes, you can watch IPTV on a Roku, but not the way you would on a Firestick. Roku only installs apps from its own store, so Android players such as TiviMate won’t install. You have three options: an IPTV player from the Roku Streaming Store, screen mirroring from another device, or a streaming stick in a free HDMI port.

Can you get IPTV on Roku?

Yes, within Roku’s rules. Roku runs its own system, not Android, and it installs apps only from the Roku Streaming Store (once called the Channel Store). There’s no “unknown sources” setting, so APK files and Android apps can’t be added. Roku’s developer mode doesn’t change that: it is for testing Roku apps you build yourself.

Private channel codes are gone too. Roku removed all non-certified channels on February 23, 2022, so the “Roku IPTV codes” you still see online no longer work.

That leaves three ways to get IPTV on Roku:

A Roku store playerWatching on the Roku you already haveSimpler players; reviews are mixed
Screen mirroring or AirPlayNow and then, from a phone or computerThe other device stays busy
A streaming stickEveryday use with a full TV guideOne more device and remote

Option 1: An IPTV player from the Roku Streaming Store

Search the store for “IPTV” and you’ll find several Roku IPTV players. Before you pick an IPTV app for Roku, check what it accepts. Like every IPTV player, they come with no channels: you add your provider’s Xtream Codes login or M3U link. These are some of the listings, as shown in the store on October 12, 2026. We haven’t tested them; the details below come from each listing.

Player (developer)What the listing saysPrice and rating
IPTV Pro (X-PLAYERS)Plays your playlists: live TV, movies, seriesFree; 3 stars from 232 ratings
Xtream IPTV Player (Nausheen Amber)Xtream Codes or M3UFree; 4 stars from 5
IPTV Smart Player Lite (Playfit Training Agency)M3U links, with a TV guideFree; 2 stars from 17
Smart IPTV (Innwoke)No description in the listing$4.99; 2 stars from 359

You’ll also see listings named after IPTV Smarters, such as IPTV Smarters ™ from Smarters Tech LLC. We couldn’t confirm that any of them comes from the developer of IPTV Smarters Pro on other devices, so judge them by their own listings. Some players are free to add but ask for an activation fee after a trial; that charge goes to the app’s developer, not to IPTVZ.

How to install an IPTV app on Roku

  1. Press Home on the Roku remote and open the Streaming Store.
  2. Search for IPTV and open a player’s page. Check that it accepts Xtream Codes or M3U, and read the recent reviews.
  3. Select Add app. Roku’s own steps cover the rest; a paid app asks you to confirm the purchase.
  4. Open the player from the home screen and add your login: choose Xtream Codes if it’s offered, and enter the server URL, username and password from your IPTVZ email. Otherwise use the M3U link, plus the EPG link for the guide.

No IPTVZ login yet? The free 24-hour trial lets you test a Roku player on your own TV first. After that, plans start at $29.99 for 3 months; see the plans page. Our Xtream Codes and M3U guide explains what each part of the login means.

Option 2: Screen mirroring or AirPlay

You can play IPTV in an app on your phone or computer and show it on the Roku. According to Roku’s support site, most current Roku players and Roku TVs support screen mirroring; the Roku Express 3700 and Express+ 3710 don’t.

  • Android: use your phone’s cast or mirroring option (Smart View on Samsung phones) and pick the Roku.
  • Windows 11: press Windows key + K and choose Connect to a wireless display. On Windows 10, open the Action center and select Connect.
  • iPhone, iPad and Mac: use AirPlay on a compatible Roku.

The first time, the TV asks whether to allow the connection; choose Allow or Always allow. Mirroring is handy now and then, but the phone or computer has to keep playing the whole time, and the picture depends on your Wi-Fi.

Option 3: Add a streaming stick

For everyday IPTV with a full TV guide, add a streaming stick. Plug a Fire TV Stick or a Google TV device into a free HDMI port on the TV. You get TiviMate and IPTV Smarters Pro, and the Roku stays as it is. Follow our Firestick guide or our Google TV guide, and compare devices in our guide to the best device for IPTV.

The TV guide on Roku

TV guide support varies between Roku players, so look for “EPG” or “TV guide” in the listing. With an Xtream Codes login, a player that supports the guide loads it by itself; with an M3U link, add the EPG link from your email. IPTVZ has guide data for 1,600+ US channels; PPV event slots and 24/7 channels have none.

Roku IPTV problems and fixes

  • The app from a video isn’t in the store: Roku removes apps from time to time, and private channel codes no longer work. Pick another player from the store.
  • The login fails: check the server URL, username and password character by character, and make sure you chose Xtream Codes, not M3U.
  • Buffering: live TV needs a steady connection. Use a Roku with an Ethernet port and a cable if you can, or move the router closer. You need about 15 Mbps for HD.
  • Mirroring doesn’t show the Roku: check that both devices are on the same network, that your Roku model supports mirroring, and that you didn’t choose Block on the TV’s prompt.
  • The player asks for payment: that’s the app developer’s activation fee, not part of your IPTVZ plan. Read the listing before you pay.

More fixes are in our IPTV troubleshooting guide, and every other device is in the IPTV setup guide.

Roku IPTV questions

Is IPTV available on Roku?

Yes. Install an IPTV player from the Roku Streaming Store and add your provider’s login, mirror a phone or computer to the Roku, or plug a streaming stick into the TV. Roku can’t install Android apps or APK files.

What IPTV apps are on Roku?

The Roku Streaming Store lists several IPTV players, such as IPTV Pro, Xtream IPTV Player, IPTV Smart Player Lite and Smart IPTV. They come with no channels; you add an Xtream Codes login or an M3U link. The list changes, so search the store for “IPTV”.

Which IPTV app is best on Roku?

On the Roku itself, pick a store player that accepts Xtream Codes and has good recent reviews. IPTV Pro had by far the most ratings of the free players when we checked. For the best guide and features, TiviMate or IPTV Smarters Pro on a streaming stick is the stronger setup.

How do I install an IPTV app on Roku?

Press Home, open the Streaming Store, search for “IPTV”, select a player and choose Add app. Open it from the home screen and add your Xtream Codes login or M3U link.

Can I install TiviMate or IPTV Smarters Pro on Roku?

Not TiviMate: it is built for Android TV and Fire TV. The Roku store has listings with “Smarters” in the name, but we couldn’t confirm they come from the developer of IPTV Smarters Pro on other devices.

Do Roku IPTV codes still work?

No. Codes for private Roku channels stopped working when Roku removed all non-certified channels on February 23, 2022. Install players from the Streaming Store instead.

What is the best free IPTV app for a Roku stick?

Most IPTV players in the Roku store are free to add, and some charge an activation fee after a trial. Read the listing before you install, and check recent reviews.

Is IPTV on Roku legal?

Roku devices and the player apps in its store are legal. Whether a particular IPTV service is legal depends on whether it has the rights to what it streams; our guide explains what US law says about IPTV.
