Leaving Spectrum in San Antonio: What It Costs and What to Switch To
Spectrum TV in San Antonio starts at $40 a month for TV Lite and $100 a month for Stream TV Signature, for the first year. Signature plus 500 Mbps internet at $50 a month comes to $1,800 in year one, before fees. Keeping the internet and moving the TV to IPTVZ costs $674.99. And in 2026-27, most Spurs local games stream in the DAZN app, not on a cable sports channel.
For years, the Spurs were the reason many San Antonio fans kept cable. That changed this season, when the team moved its local games to the DAZN streaming app. If basketball was the only thing holding you to a big monthly bill, it is a good moment to open that envelope again. Gently. Here is what each piece costs and what you can drop.

The Spurs question: what Stream TV Pro buys in 2026-27
Stream TV Pro costs $10 a month more than Signature, mostly for regional sports networks. In San Antonio this season, those networks no longer carry the Spurs.
Our finding: The Pro upgrade adds $120 over a year. That is almost exactly the price of the Spurs' DAZN season pass, $119.99. But the upgrade does not include the Spurs' local games, which stream on DAZN in 2026-27, apart from 22 free games on a local station. In San Antonio, the regional sports part of Pro now mainly matters for Rangers fans.
Here is where the teams San Antonio watches actually air:
- Spurs: local games on DAZN at $19.99 a month or $119.99 for the season, per News 4 San Antonio. National games air on NBC, ESPN, ABC and Prime Video, and the team promised 22 free games on a local station.
- Rangers: the team lists Rangers Sports Network on Spectrum channel 305 in San Antonio. Its free over-the-air home in the market is KCWX 2, per the Rangers' where-to-watch page.
- Texas Longhorns and Texas A&M: mostly on ESPN, ABC 12 and SEC Network, national channels rather than regional sports networks.
Our guide to watching the Spurs in 2026-27 prices every Spurs option in detail.
The fees on a Spectrum bill
The plan price is only the first line of the bill. These are the usual additions:
- The Broadcast TV Surcharge is a monthly fee Spectrum adds for carrying local stations like KSAT 12 and KENS 5. Third-party guides put it at roughly $21 to $26 a month in 2026. The Senior List lists $25.75, and Budget Seniors estimates about $21. Spectrum sets it, so it is not a government tax.
- Equipment, such as a receiver or Xumo Stream Box, can add a monthly charge per TV.
- Local taxes and fees come on top.
- Year two: after the first 12 months, the regular rate applies unless you lock or renegotiate a price.
For example, Stream TV Pro at $110 plus a $25.75 surcharge is $135.75 a month before equipment and tax. Over a year, the surcharge alone is about $309.
A year of Spectrum vs. the alternatives
Spectrum internet plus IPTVZ costs $674.99 for the first year, and $794.98 with the Spurs' DAZN season pass added. Spectrum internet plus Stream TV Pro costs $1,920, before the surcharge, equipment and taxes.

| Setup, first year | Internet | TV and sports | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Spectrum internet + Stream TV Pro | $600 | $1,320 | $1,920 + fees |
| Spectrum internet + Stream TV Signature | $600 | $1,200 | $1,800 + fees |
| Spectrum internet + YouTube TV | $600 | $995.88 | $1,595.88 |
| Spectrum internet + TV Lite | $600 | $480 | $1,080 + fees |
| Spectrum internet + IPTVZ + DAZN Spurs pass | $600 | $74.99 + $119.99 | $794.98 |
| Spectrum internet + IPTVZ | $600 | $74.99 | $674.99 |
Spectrum prices from spectrum.com and YouTube TV's regular $82.99 a month, both checked October 17, 2026. The IPTVZ rows use the 12-month plan. It has no surcharge and no box fee, because it runs on a device you already own, like a Firestick or Smart TV.
Worth it if you want the locals, the cable channels and the Spurs without the cable box. Even with the Spurs pass, that setup costs about $1,125 less than Stream TV Pro in year one. Our guide to IPTV in San Antonio explains how it works and what speed you need.
Test it before you call Spectrum
Start a free 24-hour IPTVZ trial on the Spectrum internet you already have. No credit card needed. Check KSAT 12, KENS 5, Univision 41 and ESPN, then decide.
Keeping KSAT, KENS and Spectrum News without Spectrum TV
You keep every San Antonio local station after you cancel Spectrum TV. There are three ways:
- An antenna. Free, but in San Antonio there is a catch: regular KSAT 12 now comes from KLRN's VHF 9 signal, which small indoor antennas handle poorly. Our San Antonio TV stations guide explains the fix: a VHF-rated antenna aimed southeast.
- A live-TV streaming service such as YouTube TV, from $82.99 a month.
- IPTVZ, which carries NBC 4, CBS 5, PBS 9, ABC 12, UniMás 17, FOX 29, CW 35, Univision 41 and Telemundo 60.
One channel people worry about is Spectrum News, Spectrum's own 24-hour local news. Our panel catalogue of October 16, 2026 includes Spectrum News San Antonio. So you can keep it on IPTVZ after the Spectrum TV plan is gone.
Spanish-language TV after Spectrum
Spectrum sells TV Latino from $25 a month and Stream TV Latino Más from $75 a month for the first year. TV Latino requires Spectrum Internet. Latino Más includes 170+ channels in English and Spanish, plus ViX Premium with ads and Paramount+ Essential.
IPTVZ includes Univision San Antonio, Telemundo San Antonio and UniMás in the same $74.99 yearly plan. Galavisión, FOX Deportes, ESPN Deportes, TUDN and channels from Mexico are in it too. For a bilingual San Antonio household, that is one plan instead of an English package and a Spanish one. Our guide to Spanish-language TV in San Antonio compares every option.
When Spectrum TV is still worth it
Some San Antonio homes are better off staying. Keep Spectrum TV if:
- You want one bill and one company, with a technician when something breaks.
- You really use the bundled apps. If you already pay for Disney+, Peacock and ESPN, Signature or Pro can be fair value.
- You watch a lot of Rangers baseball and want Rangers Sports Network from an official provider.
- Your internet is unreliable. Every streaming option, IPTV included, needs a steady connection.
How to drop Spectrum TV and keep your internet
- Test first. Run a free IPTVZ trial for a few evenings on the TVs you really use.
- Decide on the Spurs. If you want local games, buy the DAZN monthly pass first and cancel later if you change your mind.
- Check your Spectrum account for a price lock, a bundle discount or an end date.
- Ask Spectrum to remove TV only, and keep internet and mobile as they are.
- Return the TV equipment, then check that the next bill has no TV plan, surcharge or box fee.
If a channel does not load during the trial, our IPTV troubleshooting guide covers the usual causes.
