Spanish-Language TV in Houston: Univision, Telemundo and More, Without Cable

By

Houston has four Spanish-language TV stations: Univision on 45, Telemundo on 47, UniMás on 67 and Estrella TV on 61. All four are free with an antenna. To add Spanish sports, news and channels from Mexico or Colombia without cable, the options are a Spanish streaming package or IPTV. IPTVZ includes Univision, Telemundo, UniMás, Galavisión, FOX Deportes, ESPN Deportes and TUDN for $74.99 a year.

In a lot of Houston homes, the TV speaks two languages. The kids want ESPN, the grandparents want the telenovela on Univision, and somebody wants the Liga MX match. Cable makes you pay for that with a bigger package. Here's what you actually get with each option, and what it costs.

Spanish-language TV stations in Houston

Univision 45 and Telemundo 47 are Houston's two biggest Spanish-language stations, with UniMás on 67 and Estrella TV on 61. Station data comes from the FCC station database and the RabbitEars Houston listing, checked October 17, 2026.

Two free subchannels are worth knowing too. Telemundo's 47.2 carries TeleXitos, a network of Spanish-language action series, and 61.2 carries Estrella News. Both come in on the same antenna as the main channels.

Free with an antenna, and easier than ABC 13

All four Spanish-language stations broadcast on UHF, the band small indoor antennas handle best. That is good news, because Houston's English-language stations are not all so easy. ABC 13, CBS 11 and PBS 8 broadcast on VHF, and they are the stations Houston viewers most often lose.

Our finding: In the FCC data, every Spanish-language station in Houston uses UHF. Univision broadcasts on 30, Telemundo on 22, UniMás on 36 and Estrella TV on 21. A basic indoor antenna that struggles with ABC 13 can still pull in Univision and Telemundo.

Distance and walls still matter. Place the antenna high, near a window, and run a full channel scan after every move. Our Houston TV stations guide explains the VHF problem and lists every English-language station too.

What the antenna does not give you

The antenna stops at the local stations. Most Spanish-language sports and news channels are cable channels, so they need a TV service:

  • Spanish sports: FOX Deportes, ESPN Deportes, TUDN and NBC Universo carry soccer, boxing and Spanish-language broadcasts of US sports.
  • Spanish news: CNN en Español runs 24-hour news.
  • Telenovelas and classics: Galavisión airs Univision's library of shows and novelas.
  • Channels from home: networks from Mexico, such as Las Estrellas, Azteca Uno and Canal 5, or from Colombia, such as Caracol and RCN.

Worth it if your family watches the Liga MX on weekends or follows the news from Monterrey or Bogotá. That is where the antenna-only plan runs out.
