Leaving Spectrum in Dallas-Fort Worth: What Spectrum TV Costs and Cheaper Ways to Watch

By

Spectrum's TV plans start at $40 a month for TV Lite and $100 a month for Stream TV Signature, for the first year. Add 500 Mbps internet at $50 a month and a DFW household pays $1,800 in year one, before taxes and fees. Keeping the internet and switching the TV part to IPTVZ costs $674.99 for the same year. Here is what Spectrum publishes, what the fine print adds, and how to switch without losing a channel.

In Dallas-Fort Worth, Spectrum is the cable company most people already know. It is also the bill most people want to shrink. A Dallas Reddit thread asking whether anyone still uses cable got a blunt top answer: "Cable is going to be as expensive or much more. Get an antenna." Fair, but an antenna will not give you ESPN. Let's look at the real options.

What Spectrum TV costs in 2026

Spectrum lists four main TV plans, from $40 to $145 a month for the first year. These are the starting prices on spectrum.com on October 17, 2026, before an address is entered:

Spectrum planStarting priceWhat Spectrum says it includes
TV Lite$40 a month for 1 year85+ channels, streamed in the Spectrum TV App
Stream TV Signature$100 a month for 1 yearLive TV plus top streaming apps
Stream TV Pro$110 a month for 1 yearAdds regional sports networks and apps like ESPN Unlimited, Disney+ and FOX One
Stream TV VIP$145 a month for 1 yearAdds Sports View, Entertainment Pack and STARZ

Spectrum values the included apps at $118.91 to $141.40 a month if bought separately. That is a fair number only if you would really pay for all of them. Most households use two or three. Spectrum's internet starts at $50 a month for 500 Mbps with WiFi for the first year, and Spectrum promotes a price lock of up to 3 years.

Prices change by address, and the plans list their full terms under "Pricing and other info." Check your own address on spectrum.com before you decide.

What the headline price leaves out

The TV price is where the bill starts, not where it ends. Four things usually push it up:

  1. The Broadcast TV Surcharge is a monthly fee Spectrum adds for carrying local stations like FOX 4 and WFAA. Third-party guides put it at roughly $21 to $26 a month in 2026: The Senior List lists $25.75, and Budget Seniors estimates about $21. Spectrum sets it, and it is not a government tax.
  2. Equipment. A receiver or a Xumo Stream Box can add a monthly charge, depending on the plan and how many TVs you use.
  3. Taxes. Local taxes and fees apply on top.
  4. Year two. The prices above are for 1 year. After that, the regular rate applies unless you lock or renegotiate a price.

You know the one: the bill that looked like $100 in the ad and something much bigger on the statement. For example, Stream TV Signature at $100 plus a $25.75 surcharge is already $125.75 a month, before equipment and tax.

The DFW sports question

The extra $10 for Stream TV Pro mainly buys regional sports networks. In most cities that is the reason sports fans pay more. In Dallas-Fort Worth in 2026-27, the math is different.

Our finding: In 2026-27, the Mavericks are free on KFAA 29 and the Stars stream mostly on Prime Video. So in DFW, the regional sports upgrade mainly matters for Rangers Sports Network, which the Rangers list as carried by Spectrum. If you are not a Rangers fan, Stream TV Pro's sports value shrinks a lot here.

The Cowboys are mostly on free local stations, with Monday games on ESPN. Our guide to watching the Cowboys, Mavericks, Stars and Rangers without cable prices every team option. IPTVZ carries the DFW locals plus dedicated channels for all four teams.

A year of Spectrum vs. the alternatives

Keeping Spectrum internet and adding IPTVZ costs $674.99 for the first year. Spectrum internet plus Stream TV Signature costs $1,800, before the surcharge, equipment and taxes.

Bar chart of the first year of internet and TV in Dallas-Fort Worth: Spectrum 500 Mbps internet plus Stream TV Signature $1,800, plus TV Lite $1,080, and Spectrum internet plus IPTVZ $674.99, all before taxes and the Broadcast TV Surcharge
Setup, first yearInternetTVTotal
Spectrum internet + Stream TV Signature$600$1,200$1,800 + fees
Spectrum internet + Stream TV Pro$600$1,320$1,920 + fees
Spectrum internet + TV Lite$600$480$1,080 + fees
Spectrum internet + YouTube TV$600$995.88$1,595.88
Spectrum internet + IPTVZ$600$74.99$674.99

Spectrum prices from spectrum.com and YouTube TV's regular $82.99 a month, both checked October 17, 2026. The IPTVZ row uses the 12-month plan. There is no broadcast surcharge and no box fee, because IPTVZ runs on a device you already own, like a Firestick or Smart TV.

Worth it if you watch live TV most days and want the locals, the cable channels and the sports in one place. Our guide to IPTV in Dallas-Fort Worth explains how it works and what internet speed you need. Spoiler: the 500 Mbps plan above is far more than enough.

Keep the internet, test the TV

Before you call Spectrum, start a free 24-hour IPTVZ trial on the internet you already have. No credit card needed. Check FOX 4, WFAA, ESPN and your teams, then decide.

Spectrum's Spanish plans vs. IPTV

Spectrum sells two Spanish-language options: TV Latino from $25 a month and Stream TV Latino Más from $75 a month for the first year. TV Latino requires Spectrum Internet. Latino Más includes 170+ channels with English and Spanish options, plus ViX Premium with ads and Paramount+ Essential.

IPTVZ includes Univision 23, Telemundo 39 and UniMás 49 Dallas, Galavisión, FOX Deportes, ESPN Deportes, TUDN and channels from Mexico, all inside the same $74.99 yearly plan. For a bilingual DFW household, that means one plan instead of an English package plus a Spanish one.

Who should keep Spectrum TV

Spectrum TV still makes sense for some DFW homes. Keep it if:

  • You want everything on one bill from one company, with a technician if something breaks.
  • You use most of the included apps. If you already pay for Disney+, Peacock and ESPN, the Signature or Pro bundle can be good value.
  • You are a big Rangers fan and want Rangers Sports Network through an official provider.
  • Your internet is unreliable. Any streaming option, IPTV included, needs a steady connection.

For everyone else, the cheapest setup is usually Spectrum internet alone, plus a TV service that runs over it.

How to leave Spectrum TV and keep your internet

  1. Test first. Run a free IPTVZ trial or your chosen streaming service for a few evenings, on the TVs you actually use.
  2. Check your current deal. Look for a price lock, a bundle discount or a contract end date on your Spectrum account.
  3. Call or chat with Spectrum and ask to remove TV only. Keep internet and mobile as they are.
  4. Return the TV equipment. Receivers and boxes you do not return can be billed to you.
  5. Check the next bill. Make sure the TV plan, the Broadcast TV Surcharge and the equipment charges are gone.

Leaving Spectrum FAQ

How much does Spectrum TV only cost?
Spectrum lists TV Lite from $40 a month and Stream TV Signature from $100 a month for the first year, as of October 17, 2026. Fees, taxes and equipment come on top, and prices vary by address.
Can I keep Spectrum internet and cancel TV?
Yes. Spectrum sells internet on its own, from $50 a month for 500 Mbps with WiFi for the first year. Ask to remove the TV plan and return the TV equipment.
How can I reduce my Spectrum TV bill?
Drop to a smaller plan like TV Lite, return boxes you do not use, ask about a price lock, or remove TV entirely and watch over the internet with a streaming service or IPTV.
Why are people leaving Spectrum TV?
Mostly price. The advertised plan price grows with the Broadcast TV Surcharge, equipment and taxes, and the promotional price ends after a year. Streaming services and IPTV cost less for many households.
Is Spectrum's streaming service worth it?
It can be if you use most of the included apps. If you mainly watch locals, sports and a few cable channels, a lower-cost option over your existing internet is usually cheaper.
Will I lose FOX 4 and WFAA if I cancel Spectrum TV?
No. You can get them free with an antenna, on live-TV streaming services, or on IPTVZ, which carries FOX 4, NBC 5, WFAA 8 and CBS 11.
Does Spectrum have a cheaper plan for low-income homes?
For internet, Spectrum advertises Spectrum Internet Assist from $15 a month for qualifying low-income households.

The short version

  • Spectrum TV starts at $40 (TV Lite) to $145 (VIP) a month for the first year, before fees.
  • The Broadcast TV Surcharge, equipment, taxes and year-two prices add to that.
  • In DFW, Stream TV Pro's sports upgrade mainly matters for Rangers fans in 2026-27.
  • Spectrum internet plus IPTVZ costs $674.99 for the first year.

Test it on your own internet before you call Spectrum. A free 24-hour trial takes a couple of minutes, and IPTVZ plans start at $29.99 for 3 months.
